Stories of a Lifetime

My vlogging experience from 2020 - 2024

Idea

Back in 2019 when I was studying Marketing & Branding, one tip that these experts would recommend artists do is vlog. I always had this idea that vloggers were self-centered people because who cares that you're drinking coffee at 11:35am. I never saw myself recording a vlog because I didn't want to just film my life. My thought was, "If I'm not providing value then why am I uploading this video?" The only reason I went through with the idea was because these experts made a great point about connecting with the audience through behind the scenes content. I guess I never saw my process of making music worthy of it being recorded on video.

Kick it Foo

When the idea of Kick it Foo crossed my mind in 2020, I wasn't viewing it as a "vlog" series. I saw it as a "show" on my channel that would have seasons. I would do mukbangs, visit places, do challenges, etc. Eventually I did change up that format and started producing the videos like a vlog. I was excited because I was planning new adventures with The Foolys just so I could record the vlog.

Then in 2023, my life changed. I started questioning my path as an artist and my mental health issues were beginning to take their toll on me. I was tired of having to create content for my Youtube channel and social media. I deleted everything. I quit. I was more excited to create content than to live in the experience.

2024

A year later, once I was feeling healthier, I thought about maybe starting "Kick it Foo" again. This time, I told myself that recording clips was secondary to me experiencing the moment. I wasn't in the mood to be a content creator like before but I did see the value in vlogging as a means to promote my brand. I was filming random clips and most of them happened while I was alone. I didn't want to put the pressure on me because I felt like that is what I did wrong my 1st go around. The issue of having no pressure is that I would forget to vlog during moments that I would love to have captured on video. I'm so used to enjoying the moment now that the thought of creating content doesn't cross my mind that easy anymore.

FoolyWorld

In December of 2024, I was chillin in my backyard and I told myself that it would be koo if I recorded videos of me talking about my journey. The idea kept popping up in my head everyday until I pulled the trigger and recorded the 1st "FoolyWorld" vlog. This style of vlogging excited me more than filming my day to day life like I was trying to with "Kick it Foo". This is how I vlog now. I setup my phone, connect my microphone, and speak on a certain subject that I'm passionate about or tell a story that could be valuable to people.
